Science and discovery - Wonder - question - experience - observe - record - describe - form conclusions. We approach science through the Inquiry Based Science Method. We allow students opportunities to explore open ended activities, create hypotheses, develop questions, create experiments and analyze data. We approach science with the attitude that there is no right answer and all ideas and approaches are valuable.
Music, Theater, Dance - Develop an interest - uncover individual talents - encourage artistic expression. In our classroom children have many outlets to express their creativity. Whether it be participating in a serendipitous production on our theater stage or at an easel, the goal is always the process never the product. Students are encouraged to explore different materials, methods and ideas as they create their own masterpieces. A highlight each year is our annual Art Show and Gallery showcasing the amazing work done by the students. Music plays a dynamic role in our classroom; we are constantly learning new songs, exploring instruments and playing in our music classroom. We use music to expand our themes, learn new vocabulary and remind us of our transitions throughout the classroom.
Healthy habits - Positive attitude - physical activity - nutrition-good choices -Taking care of our bodies is extremely important in our classrooms. Every day we spend a minimum of 30 minutes outside exploring nature and being active. The Campus offers multiple opportunities for exploration, with over 3.5 acres of open space and a gymnasium. Rain or shine we make physical activity a priority for our students. We also focus on good nutrition and encourage the children to try new foods and to learn healthy food habits. Good personal hygiene is stressed as well as maintaining a clean school environment. |
